A conference on adventure tourism will take place in Les Mournes

Newry, Morne and Down District Council are delighted to act as lead sponsor of the Irish Association for Adventure Tourism (IAAT) Annual Conference and will be hosting the event in partnership with Tourism Northern Ireland and Fáilte Ireland . The conference will take place at the Slieve Donard Hotel in Newcastle on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 November.

The first day of the conference will provide delegates with the opportunity to sample first-hand some of the world-class experiences we have to offer tourists in our district. This will be followed by an evening showcase and live music, where local vendors will have plenty of networking opportunities!

The second day of the conference will then feature a series of key insights provided by industry leaders through keynotes and panel discussions, including John McGrillen, CEO of Tourism NI; Paul Kelly, CEO of Fáilte Ireland; Louise Finnegan, Business Partnership Manager, Tourism Ireland, Pól O’Conghaile, Irish Independent Travel Publisher; Esther Dobbin, National Trust tourism manager and Peter Boland, Alliance for Insurance Reform campaign manager.

IAAT Chief Executive Brendan Kenny said: “We are absolutely delighted to finally be bringing our adventure travel conference to Northern Ireland, and specifically to the Visit Morne destination. This is a vital time in the recovery of tourism for Ireland and our sector is determined to play its part. The theme for this year’s event is ‘Adventure Island’ reflecting our determination to realize the potential to become a world leader in adventure tourism. We look forward to bringing you two more days of insight and inspiration, in a breathtakingly beautiful corner of the world.
