By Rubén Morales Iglesias: As we enter the peak tourist season, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) has launched enforcement operations in collaboration with partner organizations across the country.
The first of these operations was carried out last weekend in Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker with the Tourism Police Unit, Hol Chan Marine Reserve and the Fisheries Department.
“The operations included checks on tour guide licenses, tour operator decals and guest / guide ratios,” the BTB said in a social media post.
The BTB said enforcement operations will not be limited to islands and seas.
“The BTB and its partners will continue to conduct these operations across the country as we enter the peak tourist season, ensuring that regulations for tour guides, tour operators and hotels and tourist accommodation are met,” said the post.
