RAS AL KHAIMAH, 26th October, 2022 (WAM) — His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has stressed the vital importance of international partnerships to increase the contribution of the tourism sector to development sustainability and entrenching the emirate’s position as one of the region’s most attractive tourist destinations.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the annual Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) summit, hosted by the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), said the tourism sector tourism and travel plays an effective role in promoting sustainable socio-economic development in the emirate and the UAE and showcasing “our rich culture and achievements” to the world.
”Increasing the contribution of the tourism sector to the local economy is part of our government’s priorities and strategic plans. We will continue our efforts to make the emirate a preferred local, regional and global tourist destination,” he added.
“Hosting this high-level summit in Ras Al Khaimah for the first time in the Middle East region underscores our visions and aspirations to achieve these strategic goals,” he said.
The three-day event brings together international thought leaders, industry shapers and high-level decision-makers who are invested in driving tourism to, from and within the Asia-Pacific.
The event, comprised of conference presentations, leadership task force sessions, workshops, PATA board meetings and a travel component, will be hosted at various locations in the emirate .
Exploring the theme of “Reconnecting the World”, the program will provide a platform for PATA members and public and private sector partners to come together on critical industry topics, including destination recovery strategies, sustainability and resilience, human capital development, women in travel and innovation.
