HOSAPETE: The Vijayanagara District Administration is set to build a state-of-the-art tourist interpretation center in Hampi. The project has been approved by the local authorities and the administration is finalizing the location of the new building.

The Hampi Interpretation Center was a long pending request and several efforts in the past to construct such a building were unsuccessful. But this time, the administration has earmarked funds from the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) and work on the building is expected to start shortly.

The center will contain a detailed history of the Vijayanagara Empire that ruled Hampi as well as information on current tourist attractions, packages and emergency contacts. Previously, efforts had been made to bring such an interpretation center to the campus of Hampi Kannada University, but the project did not take shape. Now the administration is looking for suitable sites in Kamalapur and other parts of Hampi.

Anirudh Sravan P, Deputy Commissioner of Vijayanagara, said the center will provide accurate information about the Vijayanagara Empire and the monuments of Hampi. The official added that apart from the Vijayanagara kingdom, the stories of other kings who ruled around Hampi will also be provided to the tourists.

“We have earmarked funds of Rs 1 crore under the KKRDB for the construction of the interpretation center. The administration team is already on the ground looking for a suitable place to construct the building. The center will help visitors to have access to accurate information about Hampi and its rulers. There are scenic hiking trails around the monuments of Hampi which are explored by the administration team. The center will have all this information,” he said. -he declares.

The Hampi guides welcomed the plans for the interpretation centre. “For many years, tourists visiting Hampi have inquired with government offices for information. The new building will help tourists to get the right information and also choose the legal guides for Hampi tour,” said a senior guide to Hampi.
