Kiren Rijiju advises tourists to be well informed before visiting snow-hit Tawang in Arunachal

Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju advised tourists to gather appropriate information regarding snowfall before visiting Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh.

The opinion of Union Minister Rijiju, who represents Arunachal West constituency, comes after several areas of Tawang experienced heavy snowfall.

Tourists fail to travel to their destinations as the roads become unsafe to drive.

Union Minister Rijiju, while sharing a video on his Twitter account, urging tourists to be careful, said the temperature in Tawang “is dropping to -25”.

Rijiju said heavy snowfall was reported between Baishakhi, Sela Pass and Nuranang.

Union Minister Rijiju tweeted: “Recommended for tourists visiting Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh at this point. Heavy snowfall is reported between Baishakhi, Sela Pass and Nuranang. Please get the proper information before you travel as the road is extremely dangerous to drive and the temperature drops to -25! ”

Tawang, which is the tourist hotspot of Arunachal Pradesh, which borders China on December 22, 2021, experienced the first snowfall of this season.

While the snowfall brought smiles to tourists, locals must prepare for a harsh winter with temperatures dropping below zero degrees Celsius.

On December 22, 2021, the temperature in Tawang District of Arunachal was recorded at -2 degrees Celsius.

After Tawang witnessed the first snowfall, tourists took to the streets and valleys to enjoy the snowfall as Tawang turned white. Many vehicles were reportedly stranded on the roads due to heavy snowfall.
