BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Space Coast Visitor Center recently welcomed new Tourist Sports Coordinator, Terry Parks, to the team.

As Tourism Sports Coordinator, Parks will oversee the Sports Grants Program, is the Tourism Development Office contact for the Brevard County Tourism Development Board Sports Committee, acts as liaison to sports events and venues and encourages new sporting opportunities to come to the Space Coast. .

Parks joins the Brevard County Parks and Recreation team where he was the North Area Recreation Superintendent and served as their United Way Representative, and was the Recreation Program Coordinator at the Viera Regional Community Center prior to this role.

Parks has coached basketball for over 20 years, including at the University of North Florida, The Citadel, Brevard Public Schools, Eastern Florida State College and Florida Institute of Technology.

His coaching career gave him tremendous opportunities, including being hired as a camp counselor at Michael Jordan’s Flight School in Santa Barbara, California. He also attended college basketball camps in Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and South Carolina.

Parks is a native of Columbus, Georgia, and earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in public administration from Columbus State University, where he was a student-athlete on the men’s basketball team.

He and his wife, Jamesha, have two children, high school sophomores and twins Olivia and TJ.
