West Bay North Beach project among tourist attractions to open ahead of World Cup


With the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 less than 80 days away, the West Bay North Beach project is among new tourism openings set to launch ahead of the tournament.

This was highlighted by Qatar Tourism on social media, noting that the project is a vast new tourism development, covering 40,000m² of a premium waterfront in the heart of Doha.
“The public and private beaches will offer three distinct beach experiences with a wide variety of food and drink, to create an exciting city-beach experience for all to enjoy,” Qatar Tourism said.
According to a recent report by local Arab daily Arrayah, the road beautification oversight committee in Qatar is working on the project, which is located along Doha’s business district and just 10 minutes from the station. from West Bay metro and adjacent to a number of premier shopping malls, parks and hotels.
The Surveillance Committee will set up cafes on the beaches with a unique and modern design with an outdoor space overlooking them.
In each service building, there will be toilets, changing rooms, separate prayer rooms for men and women, and showers to serve restaurants and beach visitors. The project also includes children’s playgrounds and beach playgrounds like volleyball and beach soccer. The distinctively designed lighting array and silent nighttime lighting are supported by state-of-the-art technology including surveillance cameras and Wi-Fi.
The area combines a public beach and 12 private beaches operated by a number of hotels in one location over an area of ​​60,200 m², along 1.5 km. The total length of the sandy beach is 1.2 km and is divided into three main parts, including designated places for practicing beach and sea sports and bathing areas on the beach. All beaches also include direct entrances to numerous restaurants and service kiosks, including changing rooms and showers.
The West Bay North Beach project will be characterized by the presence of three service buildings and nine open spaces. There are 900 parking spaces, in addition to 305 parking spaces along the service road to serve beachgoers as well as area residents. There are 60 bicycle parking spaces, in addition to 35 parking spaces for people with special needs.
The West Bay North Beach project will provide visitors with facilities to walk, jog or cycle using walking and cycling paths along 2 km. A total of 100 bicycle parking spaces will be set up along this route, in addition to shaded paths with natural plantations and green spaces. In addition, the beach has a 1.5 km long and 8 m wide walkway, including rest areas, and directly connected to restaurants, showers and changing rooms.
The distinct West Bay North beach location was chosen to be an attractive tourist destination. The beach is connected to two main streets which include many hotels, some of which do not have access to the beach. Visitors to these hotels and people visiting the area will be able to take advantage of beach services through the West Bay North Beach project, as it will provide public transportation service to and from the beach through 36 stations.
