One of the first dramas to hit our screens in 2022 is The Tourist – the BBC One thriller movie starring Jamie Dornan as a man with amnesia.
The six-part film, written by Baptiste creators Jack and Harry Williams, follows a Briton who wakes up in the Australian Outback following a car crash with no memory of who he is and features a stellar cast including Shalom Brune-Franklin, Danielle Macdonald and Damon Herriman (who replaced Hugo Weaving just a week before filming began).
Speaking to RadioTimes.com in an exclusive interview, Harry Williams said: “When we realized this was a guy who had forgotten who he was and was completely lost, I think we were like, ‘Well , where would you put this guy? ‘
“And the vast void that is the Outback seemed pretty good to me [place]. And it doesn’t hurt that it’s also quite nice to watch on screen.

Adelaide
Most of the filming of The Tourist took place in Adelaide, the capital of Australia, with stars Jamie Dornan and Shalom Brune-Franklin spotted there in June 2021.
The scenes on the show featuring the Frewville Motor Inn were filmed in Adelaide, while the scenes in which the man is seen walking in the Kuta-Legian gang in Bali were actually filmed in North Haven, with a beach hut under construction along the tourist hotspot.
Flinders ranges

Australia’s Flinders Ranges mountain range features in The Tourist, production building a gas station in this part of the outback.
Located just north of Adelaide, the chain stretches for 430 km, with parts of the land enjoying protected area status including Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park and Mount Remarkable National Park.
Port Augusta

Portions of The Tourist were filmed in Port Augusta, a small town in South Australia, with the production casting a casting call for extras in the area in March.
Near Adelaide, Port Augusta sits on the western side of the Gulf of the Eyre Peninsula and is home to nearly 13,000 people.
Peterborough
BBC
The city of Peterborough in South Australia served as the backdrop for some episodes of The Tourist, located just off the Barrier Highway.
